221. Bernard Willem GROOTERS was born on 27 September 1843 in Winterswijk.³²³ He died on 28 July 1884 at the age of 40 in Winterswijk nr. 607.³²⁴ Overleden aan longontsteking. He was a koopman. Bernard Willem lived in Zwolle for some time: he is found registered on 15-May-1865 as shop assistant in Diezerstraat in Zwolle.

After returning to Winterswijk he traded butter and other dairy. In those days there
was no dairy factory in WInterswijk, so the farmers delivered their butter and other dairy
to tradesman Grooters, who rubbed and packed the butter in his cool cellar. This was hard work, he became quite hot, this lead to pneumonia which was a deadly decease then.

His wife, then pregnant of their first child, mentioned explicitly in the advertisement
of his death that "business will continue as usual". She remarried Frederik
Hendrik Lindenhovius, grocer in Aalten.

Bernard Willem GROOTERS and Clasina Johanna TENKINK were married on 23 May 1883 in Winterswijk.⁶⁸ Clasina Johanna TENKINK, daughter of Albertus Gerrit TENKINK and Janna Barta ROERDINK, was born on 10 April 1861 in Winterswijk.³²³ She died on 6 November 1918 at the age of 57.³²³
