Willem GROOTERS ir. was born on 17 December 1884 in Winterswijk.⁴⁴⁹ He died on 26 January 1966 at the age of 81 in Winterswijk.²⁸⁴ He was buried on 31 January 1966 in Winterswijk.²⁸⁴ Willem lived in 1966. Willem Grooters II is known to have been a hotheaded, badly behaving man without a sense of homour.
For example, as a young boy he walked very angry through the village when some water was spilled over him during a game.
Because of this bad temper, he was sent to a German speaking minister just across the border, on parole of minister Martinus Johannes Beukenhorst (Minister in Sluis (burried there), in Laren and later in Bruxelles)). Tightly handled there to get nice manners.
After finishing secondary school in Winterswijk, which took 3 years those days, sent to Zwolle (Archive: " Willem Grooters, boarded with G.J.J. Wolbers, headmaster, from 6-Oct-1899 to 22-Apr-1903") to finish last 2 years on highschool in Zwolle.Did not succeed due to lazyness, and therefore bad results, recalled to Winterswijk by his stepfather.
His stepbrother finished medical education at Groningen University, which stimulated him to retry; His aunt Ter Pelwijk pushed him to study Chemistry at Leiden University, after visiting a boarding school in Haarlem. Did become Chemical engineer, and became teacher at the highschool ("Rijks Hoogere BurgerSchool") in Winterswijk, was elected to be member of the community council.
Rumour:
Just before beginning of second worldwar, he rented a little van of a local blacksmith, and with it, transported bars of gold, wrapped in sleeves, to a safe place, before the Germans found it

Willem GROOTERS ir. and Catharina Wilhelmina HESSELINK were married on 22 December 1915 in Winterswijk.⁴⁵⁰ Catharina Wilhelmina HESSELINK, daughter of Johan Christiaan HESSELINK and Aaltjen Johanna ROOSEN, was born on 17 November 1896 in Winterswijk.³²³ She died on 25 July 1971 at the age of 74 in Winterswijk.³²³ She has reference number C.
